Public safety issues are some of the most important decisions a Township Board will ever make. Georgetown Township takes the health and safety of its community very seriously. Over the past three months, the Georgetown Township Board has been gathering input from residents and exploring various options to replace the Ottawa County Sheriff’s E-Unit service which is being phased out after decades of partnership with local municipalities.
At Monday night’s meeting, the Board voted unanimously to move forward with an option that would add six additional full-time firefighters to provide 24/7 coverage for responding to medical emergencies, while providing additional coverage for fire calls. This change will be implemented beginning April 1, 2026, providing uninterrupted service as the E-Unit is phased out.
