  10. Working Alongside Dave Wilkerson: Speakers Howard & Barb Collver

    Local residents Howard and Barb Collver will recount their time in New York City working alongside Dave Wilkerson, founder of Teen Challenge. The Collvers worked with gang members and troubled, drug addicted teens. Their journey is recounted in the classic book, The Cross and the Switchblade, where both Howard and Barb are recognized as being integral parts of running the center.   11. Tinygami Origami Class

    March 23, 2019, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Georgetown Township Public Library

    While the origami crane is the most well known and beloved of the Japanese paper folds, there are dozens of traditional models that are appropriate for folders of all ages and experience levels. In this class, artist Stacie Tamaki will teach several beginner level folds. Each attendee will leave with finished models to take with them as well as the ability to recreate them. Authentic origami paper from Japan will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own paper as well. See www.tinygami.com for more about the artist and examples of her work. Registration required. Children of all ages are welcome to attend but any child under 13 MUST be accompanied by an adult.

  17. Evening Adult Book Discussion: "The Tattooist of Auschwitz" by Heather Morris

    Join us for a monthly book discussion! Books can be picked up at the circulation desk ahead of time, and all are welcome! March's book will be "The Tattooist of Auschwitz." In April 1942, Lale Sokolov, a Slovakian Jew, is forcibly transported to the concentration camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau. When his captors discover that he speaks several languages, he is put to work as a Tätowierer (the German word for tattooist), tasked with permanently marking his fellow prisoners. Imprisoned for over two and a half years, Lale witnesses horrific atrocities and barbarism—but also incredible acts of bravery and compassion. Risking his own life, he uses his privileged position to exchange jewels and money from murdered Jews for food to keep his fellow prisoners alive. One day in July 1942, Lale, prisoner 32407, comforts a trembling young woman waiting in line to have the number 34902 tattooed onto her arm.
