Dear Georgetown Township Board:

The following activities were successfully completed at the Georgetown Township Senior Center during the month of February, 2007:

Education and Health:

·        Blood Pressure Screen with Judy Boven, R.N. from Oak Crest Manors - 38 participants

·        Trim Class for weight management –49 participants

·        Exercise Class with Fitness Instructor Cathy Walker -100 participants

·        Taxes – 40 Participants

 

Nutritional Services:

·        Total meals provided for Georgetown Township Seniors – 353

·        Home Delivered Meals 234 participants

·        Commodities –42 recipients

·        Transportation to Meijer for grocery shopping – 38 participants

 

Trips:

·        Bach Lunch –6 participants

·        Oklahoma” at Civic Theatre -34 participants

·        Lunch Bunch to O’ Charlies– 22 participants

·        Calvin college–8 participants

·        Romeo & Juliet Opera – 17 participants

·        Taste of Kentwood – 11 participants

·        Holland Civic “Don’t Dress for Dinner” – 17 participants

·        Grand Rapids CC Jazz concert – 7 participants

·        Movies – 2 participants

·        Zeeland Hospital - 34 participants

·        Curious Savage Master Arts – 15 participants

·        Blackwood Brothers – 9 participants

 

Spiritual Services:

·        Bible Study: Finishing lessons on the book of Ruth, beginning lessons on Joshua, led by different local Pastors each week – 154 participants

 

Special Events:

·        Monthly Potluck – 0 participants cancelled

·        Breakfast Bingo –27 participants

·        Valentine Party –54 participants

 

 

Social and Recreational:

·        Watercolor Class - 51 participants

·        Computer Class –28 participants

·        Quilting –9 participants

·        Cards - 32 participants

·        Pool Players – 60 participants

·        Table Tennis Players –8 participants

·        BUNCO Players –24 participants

·        Therapeutic Recreation Group – 80 participants

 

I participated in the following meetings during the month of February:

·        Michigan Recreation and Park Association Conference

·        Specialized Services Coordination Committee

·        Georgetown Seniors Board Meeting

·        WCET Interview

·        Meeting with Porter Hills Jan Amato

·        Meeting with Terry Blanding Spartan Foods

·        Meeting with Lance Trece  Health Care Associates

 

Georgetown Township Transportation – Ottawa County Specialized Services:

·        Total rides provided in February – 1,283

 

Total units of service provided by the Georgetown Senior Center program: 2,886

                                                           

We are looking forward to the fun events planned in March including Cuppachocomania Party, the annual St. Patrick’s Party and several musical and Theatre groups including Jenison high schools “Cinderella”.  Thank you for your support.
