Staffing

·         Interviews for the open Library Page position continued.

·         No changes in the facility to report.

 

 Professional Development & Meetings

·         Meetings and workshops attended by professional staff included:

o        Monthly Library Supervisors Meeting

o        Monthly Staff Meeting for Librarians, Circulation Coordinators, Library Assistants & Materials Processors

o        Monthly Staff Meeting for Library Pages – Mary Reed & Pamela Myers

o        Lakeland Library Cooperative Continuing Education Committee Meeting – Pamela Myers & Mary Reed

o        Lakeland Library Cooperative Workshop: “Musical Storytelling with Coffee-Can Theatre” –  Mary Reed and Jill Reyers (Mary Reed attended as the coordinator for the workshop.)

·         November 08:  Book Discussion Group For Adults

o        Book:  Honeymoon with My Brother by Franz Wisner

o        Facilitators:  Mary Reed and Candace Hulst

o        Attendance:  15

 

·         Toddler (“Wee Ones”) and Preschool Fall Story Times

o        A ten-week session of Story Time began the week of September 12.

·         November 14:  Evening Story Time for Families

o        The program included stories in different formats, utilizing music and audience participation.

o        Presenter:  Jill Reyers

o        Participation:  17 children and 11 adults

 

·         November 28:  Youth Services Christmas Tree Bookmark Program

o        Children were offered the opportunity to decorate a bookmark to be used as an ornament on the Christmas tree displayed in the Youth Services Department. Participants could either decorate a bookmark on their own at home or register for one of the Library’s two decorating sessions held November 28.

o        All participants were entered into a drawing for gift cards from a local business.

o        Attendance at Session One: 31 children and 17 adults (registration was limited)

o        Attendance at Session Two:  12 children and 5 adults (registration was limited)

o        Total bookmarks turned in (as of November 28):  61

o        Program coordinators:  Jill Reyers, Sue Kirvan & Sherry Jordon

o        Program sponsored by the Friends of the Library

·         November 28: Cub Scout Troop Visit to the Library

o        Included a tour of the Library as well as a story presented by Jill Reyers

o        Participation:  17 children and 8 adults


·         Re-cataloging of Juvenile audio kits continued – Jill Reyers, Sian Kaley & Sherry Jordon

·         Promotional materials (e.g., press releases) for upcoming programs and activities – Jill Reyers

·         Youth Services displays (featured series and featured author Jan Brett) – Jill Reyers & Sue Kirvan

·         Showcase display of upcoming events – Jill Reyers

·         “Small Business Resources” bibliography completed – Susan Carlson

·         Lobby table display of books for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays – Mary Reed

·         Weeding of Adult Nonfiction 900’s continued – Susan Carlson

·         Revision of categorization and organization of the Local History vertical file continued – Susan Carlson

Friends of the Library

·         The Friends met on Monday, November 06.

·         Revenues of $763.50 were reported for the Autumn Used Book Sale (October 26 – 28).

·         During the meeting, the group approved the following funding requests:

o        $1,600 for General (Library) Programming for the period extending January 2007 through August 2007

o        $3,000 for the Summer Reading Program for Youth for 2007
