Dear Loren and Karen Bolhuis,

 

This letter is in response to a letter written by you to Georgetown Township dated September 29, 2006.  In the letter, you correctly note that the above noted parcel is zoned (HDR) High Density Residential and the use of a singe family home is not permitted in that zoning district.  Consequently, if your house would be destroyed, it would not be permitted to be reconstructed under the current zoning designation.

 

Further, you stated that you have never received notification of a zoning change, as required by statute.  However, the site was zoned (HDR) High Density Residential in 1974 when the property was owned by James Mesbergen.  Therefore, the property was zoned HDR sometime prior to 1974 and the property owner at the time would have received the notification.

 

You asked to be informed when the letter would be presented to the Township Board.  The letter has been added to the Township Board agenda under Communications, Letters and Reports for the Monday, October 9, 2006 meeting that begins at 7:30 p.m.
