SERVICES CCOMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

JANUARY 16, 2006

 

1          Call to order by Chair R. J. Poel at 7:30 AM

 

2.        Roll Call:  Richard VanderKlok, Del South, R. J. Poel

 

3.        Motion by VanderKlok supported by South to approve Minutes of December 19,

2005, Carried

 

4.        Motion by South supported by VanderKlok to approve the Annual Township

Spring clean up to be held on Saturday May 6, 2006.  Held at Allied Waste 2471 Wilshere dr.with the following charges, Trucks $38.19 per ton, Trucks and operators $82.75 per Hour, Yard Waste $7.51 per ton, Front End loader and operator $128.75 per hour. Hours of operation 7:00 Am – 4:00 PM. Emergency sevices will check ID at the main gate.  Carried and Recommend by Services Committee.

 

5.        Discussion about driveway at the Senior Center.  Clerk has photo’s of same.

Request for information to be presented at the next meeting.  1.  Discuss arrangement with UCAB for financial assistance, Check with Supervisor.

             2. Consider drain in center of roadway with metal grate to dispense excessive

             water.  3.  Have Parks Director get bids to repair/resurface.the present driveway.

             Motion by  South supported by VanderKlok.  Services Committee recommends.

 

6.        Motion by South supported by VanderKlok to receive the bids and award the

Purchase of a new 2006 Fire Apparatus to HME for $308,831.00

Other Bids;  West Shore Fire $439,681.00, American La France $360.575.74

This new engine will be housed at Station # 1, Loose Equipment will be purchased  from various vendors and will selected by lowest bid. Carried and Recommended by Services Committee. 

 

7.        Motion by VanderKlok supported by South to allow Holiday Duty Teams from 2 

FireFighters to 5 member team.  Holiday Pay is to be $40.00 for the day, plus any fire calls, Wages will be paid from the payroll budget..  6 Holidays are as follows, New Years, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Carried and Recommended by the Services Committee.

 

8.        Motion by VanderKlok supported by South to purchase 10 full sets of Turn Out

Gear, (coats and pants) and one additional pants from West Shore. Cost $14.630.00, Price increase after Jan 15th.  Budgeted for 2006. Carried and recommended by Services Committee..

 

             Bids were as follows West Shore $1385.00, Time Emergency $1385.00, 5 Alarm

             $1232.00.

 

9.        Motion By Poel supported by South to Accept Bid Proposal from Advance 

Newspaper for the Legal Advertising from April 1, 2006 thru March 31 st , 2007

In the amount of $3.39 per Column inch. The Grand Valley East and West is published on Tuesdays of each week.  Other Bid was from the Grand Rapids Press, Grandville Jenison Addition  at $3.67 per Column inch.  Carried and recommended by the Services Committee.
