Staffing

·         Jill VanWylen (Library Page) was promoted to Library Assistant I.

 

Facility

·         As was the case in previous months, we continued to experience roof leaks in various locations throughout the building.

 

 Professional Development & Meetings

·         Meetings and workshops attended by professional staff included:

o        Monthly Library Supervisors Meeting

o        Monthly Staff Meeting for Librarians, Circulation Coordinators & Library Assistants

o        Monthly Staff Meeting for Pages – Mary Reed & Pamela Myers

o        Lakeland Library Cooperative Board Meeting – Pamela Myers

o        Lakeland Library Cooperative Weeding & Collection Development Workshop – Mary Reed, Jill Reyers & Susan Carlson

·         November 09:  Book Discussion Group For Adults

o        Book:  Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks

·         November 14:  Joint Adult Services/Youth Services Program “Artist Trading Cards”

o        Cancelled due to lack of registration

 

·         November 15: “Storybook Quilt Lady” (Linda Kuhlman) Presentation for Adults

o        Attendance:  11

o        Program sponsored by the Friends of the Library


 

·         November 03:  Library Tour & Stories

o        Attendance:  8 boys from a first grade Boy Scout den and 7 adults

·         November 08:  Learn How To Knit Program for Teens

o        Attendance:  4 young adults and 4 Friends of the Library volunteers

o        Program sponsored by the Friends of the Library

 

·         November 07 – November 23:  Decorated Christmas Trees Accepted for the Decorated Tree Contest

o        1st Place Winner:  Daily Shepherd CCC ($50 Michael’s Gift Card)

o        2nd Place Winner: Cara Hansen ($35.00 Target Gift Card)

o        Program sponsored by the Friends of the Library

 

·         November 10:  Book Discussion Group for Teens

o        Book:  Touching Bear by Ben Mikaelsen

o        Book Discussion Leader:  Jill Reyers

o        Attendance:  2

·         Toddler (“Wee Ones”) and Preschool Story Times

o        A ten-week session of Story Time began the week of September 13.

·         Youth Services bulletin board display promoting the “classics”

·         Showcase display of Quilts and related picture books promoting the Storybook Quilt Lady Program – Karen DeVries, Library Patron

·         Lobby table displays for Veteran’s Day (November 1 – 11) and holiday cookbooks (November 12 – 30) – Mary Reed

·         Temporary Card Clean-Up in the Patron Registration Database – Pamela Myers

 

Friends of the Library

·                                                                     The Friends met on Monday, November 7 for their monthly meeting.

·                                                                     A group of Friends members volunteered time on November 22 with the Santa Claus Girls on behalf of the group.
