Library Department Report
October 2005
·
Andrew Perry joined the staff at the beginning of the month, filling a
vacant Library Page position.
·
A Library Assistant I position was vacated with the departure of Mary
Lacy.
·
We continued to experience roof leaks in various locations throughout
the building. Some occurred in new areas and were particularly problematic due
to their location near material storage. It appears the water is “traveling,”
so diagnosing the source(s) remains difficult. Rod Deemter is aware of the
ongoing problems and continues to work on troubleshooting and making needed repairs.
·

On a quarterly basis, statistics related to
the number and types of reference transactions fielded by staff are compiled at
the various service desks in the Library. Data collection for the previous
quarter was completed during the week of October 17 – October 22. In order to
provide a basis for comparison, results from the previous year’s quarters are
provided below as well. (Implementing strategies for data collection discussed
at August staff meetings resulted in marked improvement in results for the
sample week.)
