Staffing

·         Library Page Stephanie VanderHeide tendered her resignation during the month.

·         The subsequent vacant Library Page position was posted and interviews were conducted.

Facility

·         We experienced several roof leaks in various locations throughout the building. Rod Deemter continues to work on troubleshooting the problem and making needed repairs.

 Professional Development & Meetings

·         Meetings and workshops attended by professional staff included:

o        Monthly Library Supervisors Meeting

·         Youth Services “Fall-themed” bulletin board featuring upcoming Library events for children, young adults, and families.

·         Youth Services display promoting the “CSI Family Night”

·         Promotional materials for “The Joy of Old-Time Radio Programs” created – Mary Reed, Pamela Myers & a volunteer

·         Lobby table and showcase display of old-time radios, as well as books and audio recordings from the Library’s collection featuring the “Golden Age of Radio” – Mary Reed, Pamela Myers & a volunteer

·         Weeding of the Adult Nonfiction 800 area began – Susan Carlson

·         Development of the Local History Vertical File – Pamela Myers

Friends of the Library

·         The Friends met on Monday, September 12 – the first meeting of the group’s new fiscal year.

·         The group agreed to provide funding of $300 for the Library’s fall/winter adult reading program (The 32° Club).

·         A motion was passed to fund the purchase of BookPage for another year. Cost is $288 for  an annual subscription of 100 copies per month. This periodical features information on forthcoming books and is distributed in the Library to patrons.

·         The group agreed to provide staffing for four book sales during 2006, with dates set as follows:

o         January 26 - 28

o        April 27 - 29

o        July 27 - 29

o        October 26 - 28
