Library Pages Michelle Meyer and Lisa Bol tendered their resignations
during the month.
·
Melinda Curtis and Jennifer Dykhouse were hired to fill the resulting
open Library Page positions.
·
The staff break room floor was stripped, sealed, and refinished by the
cleaning company at my request. (This service is included in our current
contract.)
·

· Summer Reading Program for Adults (June 13 – August 06)
o Total Registration: 110 adults
o Participation was up 13% from 2004.
o Total Completing the Program: 32 adults for a completion rate of 29% of those registered or 48% of those submitting at least one mini-review.
o Adults participating in the program were challenged to read 8 books in 8 designated genres and write a mini-review for each. Those completing the program received a finisher prize and were eligible to win a grand prize or one of several second level prizes.
o Each mini-review served as an entry in weekly prize drawings. Thus, if participants could not manage to complete the entire program, they were still eligible to win prizes.
· A total of 377 mini-reviews were collected from 66 participants.
· A total of 52 participants were awarded prizes from weekly drawings.

Summer Reading Program for Youth
(June 13 – August 13)

Total Registration: 1,653
children & young adults
o Total Completing the
Program: 825 children & young adults
for a 50% completion rate
o Total Completing the “Seek
the Knight” Quest: 24 young adults
o Participants ages 3 – 12
were required to complete 6 ½ hours of reading (independently or with an adult,
depending on the child’s reading level) to qualify as a finisher and receive a
collection of “reading rewards” and the opportunity to enter the grand
prize drawing.

A second level of reading rewards and another chance in the grand prize
drawing were awarded to those participants who challenged themselves and
achieved an additional 7 ½ hours of
reading.
o Participants ages 13 – 17
were required to read 5 books from 5 different genres to qualify as a finisher
and receive a grab bag of reading reward coupons and the opportunity to enter
the grand prize drawing.

A second chance in the grand prize drawing and additional reading
rewards were offered to each participant who continued on to read 5 more books
from various specified genres.
