 Professional Development & Meetings

·         Meetings and workshops attended by professional staff included:

o        Monthly Library Supervisors Meeting

o        Monthly Staff Meeting for Librarians, Circulation Coordinators & Library Assistants

o        Monthly Staff Meeting for Pages – Mary Reed & Pamela Myers

o        Friends of the Library Monthly Meeting – Pamela Myers

o        Lakeland Library Cooperative Continuing Education Committee – Mary Reed

o        Southwest Library Cooperative’s “Starting a Teen Advisory Board” Workshop – Jill Reyers

·         November 10:  Book Discussion Group For Adults

o        Attendance:  12


·         November 16: Youth Program "Family Story Night"

o        Attendance:  5 children & 5 adults

o        Prepared and performed by Jill Reyers

·         November 20: Youth Program “Kids Craft Day”

o        Geared to children ages 7 – 12  (Registration required)

o        Youth Services staff selected and prepared materials for children attending to create three different crafts.

o        Attendance:  23 children & 4 teen volunteers

o        Prepared and hosted by Jill Reyers & Sue Kirvan

 

·         Flyers to promote both “Family Story Night” and “Kids Craft Day”  Jill Reyers

·         Youth Services Area bulletin board and coordinated book display of Library staff members’ favorite children’s books – Jill Reyers & Sue Kirvan

·         Flyer, handout, and press release for December 07 craft program for adults – Mary Reed

·         Tabletop display of holiday books – Mary Reed & Becky Ilkanic

·         Weeding of adult nonfiction 320s – Susan Carlson

·         Re-cataloging of videos – Pamela Myers

 

 

Friends of the Library

·         The group held their monthly meeting on November 01.

·         Members agreed to add a meeting Monday, January 10 to finalize plans for the recently added Winter Used Book Sale (January 27 – January 29).

·         The group voted to provide $2,000 in funding for the Library’s Summer Reading Program for Youth.

·         An additional $400 in funding for the Library’s Summer Reading Program for Adults was approved.

·         The members also voted to provide $300 in funding for general programming for adults throughout the next year.

·         The group agreed to continue to fund the Library events postcard notification program for Friends members, covering the cost of postage. (Friends members are sent postcards notifying them of upcoming Library events, activities, and programs.)
