We are
writing to provide our rationale for providing parking spaces in excess of the
Township Ordinance requirements for the Georgetown CRC building addition.
The proposed addition is located on the southwest side of the existing
building and will result in the loss of some of the existing parking areas and
drive aisles on that side of the church. We are requesting that the
Planning Commission allow the additional proposed parking spaces ( 274 total proposed vs 194
required / 232 max @ 20% over required number). The reason is that the
proposed addition is largely for education and nursery on Sunday mornings.
If there is no parking on the South side, then members and guests would
have to park on the far side (north and west) of the church and thus
complicating access to these facilities. Also the there must be a
significant amount of paving on the south side of the building anyway to
provide adequate site circulation. The additional pavement from the
parking spaces does not provide a great increase in site paving.
Furthermore, the parking spaces will still be needed when the sanctuary
is expanded in the future and envisioned in the church’s master plan.
I am still
trying to get in touch with someone at the church who can clarify the ownership
of the 2 outbuildings on the west end of the parking. I’m not having any
luck so far and may not know until I can visit the site myself tonight.
I understand that the architect has contacted you about the
building height and building materials.
