Approval to adopt the staff report as finding of facts and to grant tentative preliminary plat approval of Lowing Woods No. 10 revised, based on the findings that Township Ordinances have been met, as recommended by the Planning Commission as shown on the following documents;

  2. Sheet C-101 dated 08.28.17,

  4. Sheet C-103 dated 08.28.17,

and  with the following conditions:

a.     All previous approvals for signs remain in effect.  Signage must meet previous approvals and sign permits must be obtained for all new signs (other than signs approved by the Road Commission for use in the road right-of-way).

b.     The individual building envelopes appear to meet the minimum standards of the PUD setbacks with 25 foot front, 25 foot rear and 7 foot side setbacks.  However, each building permit application will be reviewed at the time it is submitted for conformance for each individual site.

Ordinance Conflict with State Law-Introduction and First Reading of Ordinance No. 2017-05, Firearm Revision Ordinance



Motion: To approve the introduction and first reading of Ordinance No. 2017-05, Firearm Revision Ordinance, which is the amendment to the Parks and Cemetery Ordinance as follows, as recommended by the Services Committee:

Sec. 18-12.  Conduct of persons within the cemetery.

(m)      Firearms. No person other than a law enforcement officer or other person authorized by state law shall possess or transport any firearm or weapon within any township cemetery. In addition, no person shall discharge a firearm or weapon within a township cemetery. This section shall not apply to any gun, firearm, or rifle discharged in lawful self-defense as defined by the laws of the State of Michigan, nor shall this section apply to any police officer who is authorized to possess, carry, or discharge a gun or firearm in carrying out their lawful law enforcement duties. Finally, this section shall not apply to the otherwise lawful use of firearms pursuant to a funeral or memorial service within a township cemetery by a state or nationally-recognized veterans group or the members of any of the armed forces of the United States of America.

Sec. 42-2.  Rules and regulations.

(9)       Firearms. No person shall bring into the park, possess or control, within the park, any bow and arrow, pistol, rifle, gun, shotgun or other firearm, unless such item is disassembled and contained in a locked or sealed container.
